After more weeks than I care to count the Double Helix scarf has finally been completed. I knit the last rows and the bind off late last night while listening to “Cast On”.
The scarf began when I wanted to make a special gift for my good friend’s only daughter who is graduating high school and will be attending Auburn in the fall. The pattern appealed to me because of the DNA cables that make up the pattern. I hope that they will also have meaning for this young lady who has such a talent for chemistry.
The pattern for the Double Helix scarf can be found on June Oshiros site, “Two Sheep”. I used a wonderful yarn called “Baby Twist” by a small company called “Alpaca with a Twist” in a soft shade of green. I would have never discovered this fabulous yarn had Rae, my Secret Pal 6, not sent me 2 skeins of Winter White in my goody package. I was a joy to knit with. There is a skein and a half left and I have time to sign up for the “One Skein” KAL.
