It’s been a long hot summer and the time off work has not been abundant. I am not really a baseball fan. My husband is. When he read the article about Stitch and Pitch, he had a good laugh and suggested attending. A great opportunity for a quick family trip to the west coast prior to school begin. Alright, I'm game.
I bought 3 tickets and made hotel reservations. Hardly had the credit card been swiped, I receive a call saying he can't make the trip due to a prior commitment.
I seethed for a few minutes and then did what any other jilted spouse would do. I booked an extra night and invited a girlfriend.
I had posted the tickets and the room on the Ravelry forum without any response. Then asked my non knitting friends. Finally, I found a taker and she knits! Bonnie owns our local whole grains bakery and is the employer to my 16 year old son. He now makes coffee better than I do.
We're heading out to St. Pete Friday morning with plans to take in the town. A fellow Raveller has invited all those attending to the St. Pete Shuffle on Friday night. The Shuffle is a lovingly restored shuffleboard court on the banks of Mirror Lake. What an appropriately Florida pastime. Hopefully we'll meet some of the west coast knitters.
Saturday begins with a quick breakfast and a yarn crawl. Since we are LYS poor here on the east coast, I can't wait to see what's on offer. Saturday PM we'll be in the nosebleed zone knitting with the best of them. Jesse sent a bag of Ravelry buttons and bottle openers so we can represent.
The background for the buttons is my lovely Sea Silk Storm Water Shawl. I'm in the homestretch and plan to take it out to the ball-game! Meet me at Gate 6, Tropicana Field and get your Ravelry button or hunt me down, section 353, Row D, seats 23-25. I have an extra ticket to give away as well. See you there?
