Working Girls

I suppose some commentary as to the pictures that have languished unsung. It’s Connie, friend to all knitters and dogs. Connie is our receptionist and designer to be. She keeps things lively at our shop. The first shot is of Connie and Mandy, our super shop lab. Mandy and Connie have that special relationship that occurs between dog and the human who takes her out to piddle. They are very close.

The next shot is of Connie modeling her daughters Halloween costume. I heard Connie swear a lot the week that she was making it. Its looks great though. I want one, too!

The last snap is Mandy with her favorite bone. Mandy has been consuming pigs ears lately and we've lost track of the bone.

Finally Finished!

I have finally completed the Chutes and Ladders portion of the KAL. It will be hard not to have those socks with me 24/7. They have certainly traveled for the past 2 months! One thing, I ripped the toe decrease back to the 48 stitches and added another inch.

Chutes_complete

What a difference that made in the length of the foot. It feels good to have them finished and be able to move on. Tigger is in the last stages of completion with sewing the sides and adding buttons and a closure. The pattern was found on knitty.com. I made the size 2 with no yarn to spare. I followed the instructions to the letter and am sewing the side with the Berrocco. The closure will be Berrocco as well. Ordering an extra bell of yarn for the sake of completing a pattern without running out is definitely worth it. It doesn’t pay to get cheap, although this little baby set me back about $50. As for the pattern, it was a pleasure to knit. I loved the feel of the Luxor yarn, too bad that it has been discontinued. I would live in a sweater, my size, if I wasn’t living the what seems to be the warmest state in the union.

Short Week

Its been a short but hectic week. Erik graduated 8th grade. See the pictures mixed into the EPCOT photo album. We had a small, very last minute party with friends. I know that he is exited about finally leaving the charter school environment, Sculptor for a proper public high school, Titusville High. Friday night will be a crazy evening with Erik hosting a movie night for 18 of his friends. It should be interesting to see them all huddled around our 27" set. No high definition here! I'll be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers for the hungry masses.

6 Sock has posted its newest in hosiery, Chutes and Ladders. I think that I will try to make these from Coats LusterSheen in white. The socks that I am knitting for my CIC contribution is a leftover skein of Regia sock yarn. Img_1946 After my friend Deborah rearranged my bedroom, she convinced me to rid the room of the TV. Bedrooms are only for sleeping and sex. Her words. Sleeping sounds pretty good to me, when I can get some. Oh, reading and knitting, too.I asked where the offensive TV will go. "My bedroom", she laughed.  So, a trade was made for a bowl carved by some friend in Chicago. A precious heirloom, a dear friend. Turns out the bowl has never seen the light of day due to time spent in basements and trunks of cars. I now am the proud owner of a bowl that has been oiled an contains the pieces of the mohair "Cardie from Hell". Love the color, hate the yarn, adore the bowl. It sits on the floor in my newly stripped down bedroom. I am sleeping much better. Img_1945_1

Kitch-ens

The speed at which kitchen are being ripped out, remodeled or redone is passing the speed of 3 minute Jello. This is not to mention the monies spent on the aforementioned. I still have 2 stained glass panel to complete in my old/new kitchen. Maybe I should just gut the whole thing and start again. Isn't stained glass is passe?
