I must say that I’m in a bit of a knitting slump lately. I find that the only time I have to devote to the needles is in the evening in my favorite chaise, glass of wine and a “Book on Tape” in the player. Right now I’m listing to an Alan Furst WWII (my favorite war) thriller. Can’t get enough of those Nazi’s. I spend a good bit of time reading about other peoples knitting progress instead of spending time on mine. It’s just not fair. Today was a 12 hour workday for me. How can a girl find the time? I have turned the heel on the mosaic sock and finished one Florida Footie. I sat knitting while getting my weekly pedicure, almost dropping the whole mess into the drink. I have allowed myself a splurge. I reads about designer, Hanne Falkenburg after seeing a beautiful jacket in the new WoolWorks catalogue. Coincidentally I read more about her designs on the KnitList and we pointed to a Danish website with incredible kits and prices. I ordered a jacket. I hope to receive the package in the next week or so.
As of today we are on another hurricane alert. Tinyville is on the northernmost edge of the cone. Our roofer came by today and we picked out our new shingle color, “Sunset Brick”! Hopefully there will be a roof to nail the shingles to. We’re replacing the plastic skylight with a nice glass model. The garage has a new ceiling and is nicely painted. I have new cabinets picked out and the painter will be painting the floor next week. The cedar beans that connect the courtyard wall to the house are also going to be replaced. I still hope to get started on the guest bath prior to Christmas. A homeowners work is never done.
