Our family of 3 has slowly taken a step back from the Christmas madness and has made the decision not to purchase gifts for one another this year. This year’s news of after Thanksgiving shopping mayhem was particularly disconcerting. Our “gift” for this season was tickets to “The Lion King” and dinner at a fine restaurant prior to the show. We met 2 other couples for a relaxing dinner at a nice little Italian restaurant downtown. After dinner we headed to the theatre and enjoyed an incredible show. The production, staging, costumes were spectacular. We all agreed to repeat a similar experience next year.
I have not taken part in any charity knitting as of yet and have chosen the Orphan Foundation of America’s “Red Scarf Project”. This charity spoke to me as I was an orphan for a short time before being adopted. My brother was in several foster homes prior to our family adopting him. My yarn is a warm red, “Sky Tweed” from Classic Elite. I am using Ann Budd’s pattern, “Ribbed Scarf with a Twist”. I think that I can knit this scarf fairly quickly and have it shipped off by the January deadline.
My last installment of the “Rockin’ Sock Club” arrived on Saturday. Included were a lovely red skein of sock yarn and a bonus skein. I still have 2 pair to knit, shipments from earlier in the year. The New Year will bring the “Sundara Petals Collection” to my door step, New Year, new sock yarn.
