My first FO for this year is the Split Cable Top, pattern from the Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim Aran book. I used the Debbie Bliss Cotton Silk Aran that I had bought from Elann and had originally intended to knit the Rogue. When the yarn arrived, I realized that it had zero give and was totally unsuitable. So I improvised and bought the Bliss book. As far as the pattern goes, it was an enjoyable knit if you like moss stitch. I loved the clever cable split top and bottom.
As far as the yarn goes, Debbie Bliss should have paid me to knit with it. It is stiff as cardboard and splits at every stab of the needle. To add insult to injury, I was short 4 balls and after much internet sleuthing, tracked down 6 extra balls on a yarn site in the UK. If only I had read this review prior to buying the entire bag.
I digress. I seamed the sweater and put it on. It weighs a ton and I waffled as to whether or not it makes me look fat. It looks far better on the 6 ft. model reclining on the steps of the beach house.
Right now Ms. Bliss is in the washing machine spinning at about 1600 rpms. I plan to toss her in the dryer with a few sheets of fabric softener. That’ll teach her!
